Embossing & Blending Techniques
If you love card making, paper crafting, and floral stamp sets, today’s project is for you. In this tutorial, I’m revisiting the Beautiful Gallery Suite to create an elegant easel card using white heat embossing, Stampin’ Blends colouring, and layered die cuts.
This suite may have been around for a while, but the floral designs and coordinating elements make it timeless for handmade cards.
What Is the Beautiful Gallery Suite?
The Beautiful Gallery Suite includes coordinating products perfect for handmade card making:
- Floral stamp sets (Gallery Blooms & Beautiful Motifs)
- Matching dies
- Scenic and floral patterned papers 6 x6″ Beautiful Gallery
- Embellishments and ribbons
It’s ideal for creating floral greeting cards, birthday cards, and dimensional card designs.
Step 1: White Heat Embossing for Crisp Floral Images
To begin, stamp a floral image and apply white heat embossing powder.
White embossing:
- Creates clean, raised outlines
- Helps keep colour inside the lines when using alcohol markers
- Adds a professional finish to handmade cards
Tip: Heat from underneath first for smoother melting and less powder movement.

Step 2: Colouring with Stampin’ Blends
Next, colour the embossed floral image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
Colour combination used:
- Granny Apple Green for leaves
- Bubble Bath for petals
- Blackberry Bliss for shading
- Lemon Lolly for flower centres
I start with darker tones and blend out with lighter shades to create depth. Once dry, gently wipe over the embossed lines with a microfiber cloth to restore the crisp white finish.
Step 3: Ink Blending & Background Stamping
To create a soft background panel:
- Blend Coastal Cabana ink onto cardstock.
- Add texture using Smoky Slate stamping (second-generation stamping for a softer look).
- Layer in die-cut foliage for dimension.
This creates a balanced base that highlights the focal floral image.
Step 4: How to Make an Easel Card
An easel card is a simple but impressive fancy fold that stands upright for display.
Card structure:
- White card base (5″ x 4″)
- Folded front panel to form the easel
- Patterned paper layers for visual interest
- A raised floral piece inside to act as the “stopper”
Finish the front with:
Sparkle embellishments
Dimensionals for lift
A simple sentiment
