Spotlight Technique and Simple Masking

Two simple techniques that really give your card WOW

Loving the simplicity of the background and the pop of colour

The Spotlight Technique and Simple Masking was the topic of my Technique Tuesday Live. It is all about creating a plain black and white background and selected an area to highlight with gorgeous colour. This really draws the eye to that particular area.
Large stamps or stamps that cover a lot of area of your card work the best.
Once you have your image stamped and using the Layering circle Dies Die cut an area you would like to highlight and colour with your favourite colouring medium.

For this card I have used the Blessings of Home Stamp. I wanted to cover the whole card with flowers, so I have used some Simple Masking. Simple Masking is where you re stamp your image on thin slightly sticky paper, and cut it out Place it over your stamped image and stamp a new image. This means you do not get a mess of images while trying to fill the page. I have a video below that will explain more clearly and also includes even more tips and tricks.

This card is simple but beautiful.

This card is more straight forward, using the large Butterfly Brilliance stamp which has all these butterflies on one stamp.
for both cards I have matted the highlighted circle with a slightly larger black circle which i think adds to the ‘pop’ effect!
