Three Ways to Use the Sunflower Embossing Folder

I recently shared a series of reels featuring the beautiful Sunflower Embossing Folder, and I wanted to bring all three projects together here to show just how versatile this one product can be.

From soft and elegant, to rustic and bold, through to bright and artistic—this folder truly does it all!

🤍 1. Elegant Layer-on-Layer White

There’s something so timeless about an all-white card.

For this design, I focused on layering embossed elements to create depth and texture without adding colour. The sunflower takes centre stage, built up with die-cut layers over an embossed background.

A few subtle details really bring it to life:

A soft pink ribbon for a delicate touch
A simple sentiment to keep it clean
A hint of sparkle with embellishments

This style is perfect when you want something elegant, classic, and full of dimension.

🌿 2. Blended Country Woods Background

For a completely different look, I used the embossing folder with Country Woods Designer Series Paper.

Instead of embossing plain cardstock, I:

Embossed directly onto the patterned paper
Gently blended colour over the raised areas
Added deeper tones to enhance the texture

This technique really highlights the detail of the folder and gives a rustic, almost vintage feel.

Finished with twine and a darker sentiment label, this card has a warm, natural look—perfect for masculine cards or anyone who loves earthy tones.

🎨 3. Watercolour on Fluid 100 Paper

This final card is probably the most artistic of the three.

I embossed the sunflower onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper, which holds water beautifully, and then:

Applied soft washes of colour
Let the pigment settle into the embossed areas
Built up layers for a loose, painterly effect

The result is a bright, fresh, and expressive design where the embossing acts as a guide for the watercolour.

Paired with a simple background and minimal embellishments, it lets the colouring shine.
