Beautiful Ordinary Life Concertina Mini Album Tutorial | Scrapbook & Cardmaking Inspiration

If you love interactive paper crafting projects, this beautiful Concertina Mini Album is the perfect combination of scrapbooking, memory keeping, and cardmaking all in one. In this week’s live tutorial, I created a smaller version of a concertina-style mini album using the stunning Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite Collection from Stampin’ Up!® — and it is absolutely packed with colour, texture, pockets, flip flaps, and space for treasured photos and handwritten memories.

This project is ideal for birthdays, retirement gifts, friendship albums, Christmas memories, family celebrations, or simply documenting those everyday moments that become the most meaningful over time.

Creating a Concertina Mini Album with the Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite

During the live, I shared how easy it is to create the base structure of this fold-out mini album using just a few pieces of cardstock.

The album base was created using:

Two pieces of cardstock measuring 6″ x 12″
Scored at 4″ and 8″
Joined together adhering two panels to create the longer concertina fold design

This style of album folds beautifully while still allowing plenty of room for:

Photos
Journaling
Decorative pockets
Interactive flip flaps
Pull-out tags
Layered embellishments

I also shared an important tip when working with concertina albums — always flip the album in the same direction so your pages stay facing the correct way throughout the project.

Why I Love the Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite

One of my favourite features is the Designer Series Paper with:

Bright colourful patterns on one side
Black and white designs on the reverse

These black and white patterns are perfect for custom colouring with blending brushes and coordinating inks.

For this project I used:

Blending the colours together created a soft ombré rainbow effect across the paper, giving the album a completely customised look while perfectly matching the suite colours.

Several pages include layered photo mats and decorative corners designed so photos can slide underneath embellishments without being permanently attached.

I added Stampin’ Up! Flip Flaps to create extra hidden space for photos and journaling while keeping the album compact and easy to fold.

Envelope Pocket

One of my favourite additions was turning a decorative envelope into an easy pocket page.

The envelope was:

Trimmed down
Scored to size
Folded into a pocket
Added to the album for tags, notes, or extra photos

This simple technique adds so much functionality to handmade albums.

Layering Die Cuts & Embellishments

The front cover features layered die cuts using:

Border dies
Sentiment dies
Floral accents
Decorative labels
Ribbon
Embellishment dots

I used adhesive sheets behind the intricate word dies to make assembly much easier and cleaner — especially for detailed script sentiments.

The “For You” layered sentiment became the perfect focal point for the front cover, while soft pink ribbon and Flirty Flamingo embellishments finished the project beautifully.

Adding Sparkle with the New Glitter Pens

Another highlight from the live was testing the new glitter pens from the latest Stampin’ Up! release.

I used:

Golden Glow
Crisp Cantaloupe

to colour die cut butterflies and add subtle shimmer to the project.

These pens create such a soft glistening finish and are perfect for:
